Rolling a textile

Post by Mariana.

Take a cardboard tube.  If it is not acid-free, cover it with aluminum foil.

Cardboard tube covered with aluminum foil.

Take two pieces of fabric.  If the tube is 35 cm wide, the fabric should be 33 cm wide.  The length of the fabric should be about 25 cm longer than the textile.

Plain cotton fabric used to roll the textile.

Sew one piece of fabric to the tube.  Lay the textile over the extra end of the fabric and begin to roll.  Put the other piece of fabric at the end of the roll.  When rolling make sure everything is flat and smooth.

Rolling the textile.

Tie both ends of the roll.
